I know corsa handle badly but mine is rediculous in certain situations
If you take a reasonably tight corner ie small roundabout at about 20mph in second just doodling along normally the back end will go very light and try to spin and you end up going about 45 degrees with oposite lock on so its pritty dangorous. Only happens if the roads are wet or moist. So I am going to blame the tyres. Is there anything else it could be?
Car is on standard 14" gsi alloys. I had to replace the fronts as they were low so brought some nice goodyears however the rears were at the legal limit when i bought the car so as part of the deal the bloke stuck some new rears on. They are runways or something assuming they wernt expensive. They look the same as the goodyears but im assuming the rubber compound maybe different and causing the problems.
But before I splash out and replace two already new tyres I want to know if there is anything else to check.

Gav, check how the rears are wearing, if it is evenly across the tyre, or if it is wearing more in the centre, which is my guess.

If they are like the last set in the picture, they are overinflated, with a vastly reduced contact patch with the road.
I would check the tyre pressures, and both on the back should be around 26-27 PSI.

Tyres are correctly inflated as I keep a check on them
Car is lowered 60mm but it did it when it was standard too. Plus the tracking has all been done etc.
Tyres are wearing ok and nice and even too.
Might be buying a set of speedlines so will get a decent set of tyres on them if i go for them

try the decent tyres on the back, and see if it happen..

Its called lift off oversteer mate, mixed with shitty tyres. You say you are coasting when you go into the corners, try going through the corner with throttle on in say second or third gear this should eliminate the oversteer.

Aye but im not driving on a track, just going to the shops
Surely I should be able to pootle round corners at 15-20mph without having the throttle wide open

Right came back from my mates at about 4am last night so it was completly deserted. Anyone who knows saddlersfarm roundabout knows its about 4 lanes wide (ie with a clear veiw and nothing to hit its a safe place to test it). So I thought I would test the cars cornering abilities.
Summery is:
Take mild bend at 30mph you spin with no throttle
take mild bend at same speed with throttle it still spins.
So its not lift off over steer just seems my car is shite, seems like you are constantly hitting black ice as they is exactly how the car behaves

Rear ARB would make the rear step out more, stiffer rear = more overstear
If your rear suspension is adjustable then make the back a bit softer and should be less likely to kick out

Nah ive only got a fixed kit
Have gsi's got thicker arb's then other corsa's? As my last one with the same suspension setup was alot more neutral

Believe they do.
Basic suspension theory is
Stiffer front = understeer
Stiffer Rear = Oversteer
Also have you adjusted your brake bias valve?
