Is there any messing about or just bang it on and re-start?
I remember the fitting side in college but cant remember anything else that needs doing....
I have a Dell Dimension 5000 which i have down as having DDR2 ram?

DDR2 is cheap as chips at the moment, check how much you can put in your motherboard (usable memory not slots) as 4GB can go for less than £70 now
|

there are 4 slotts... there is 2 free and 2 have 512 in!
where is the cheapest thinks and extra 2gb.. either 1 stick or 2 1gbs?

I said check how much your motherboard can take, usable memory as in, size. not how many slots, although that helps its not enough info for you to benefit the most,

You're usually better off with 1gb of expensive high quality RAM than you are with lots of low grade stuff...

Search for the model of PC. Link i found says it uses DDR 400.
I'll find the software that gives you the spec without cracking the PC open.
