basically i wangt to know the best way/software to totally flatten my laptop im starting all over again, and i knwo that you can always get data back with software id rather not be able to if at all poss.

Have a search for a data shredder, should be able to find something to kill your hard drives

Bit harder in a laptop as ideally it's best to switch it to a secondary drive so you can run software from another working OS.
I'd just format it twice over. If you do have access to another PC and can add the laptop HD as a secondary drive then download Western Digital Diagnostics tool. You can Zero your drive, do it twice then format it.
Unless you can find a boot software program to zero the laptop HD upon startup.

Best thing to do is take the harddrive out, destroy it and put a brand new one in.

Download the UBCD and use one of the nuker tools on there.
