are they different?

the problem iv got is...

the coil pack i have, the ht leads have alot longer bit that goes into the coil pack
and the ht fall off easliery

need a ford coil pack with male type connectors on it, like the GM one, as apose to the female style zetec one i have

i could use the ford leads but, i would have to remove all the runbber, and there will be a poor seal and water could get in, not a major problem, nut dont want to bodge it

lol

and im taking too long

was hopeing it was a z18xe im getting converted to them

you impressed with the engine? im far from impressed with mine so far, better go alot better when get the megasquirt working, as the GM coil pack didnt work, so got a ford one, got spark, but..... seems to be very weak and by the time got started battery was flat, so could see if it would start

also tried fitting 2.0l injectors opn standard management - had better throttle responce low down but just had flat spots all up the rev range and was slower was worth a laugh anyway

Z18XE looks as if it needs a custom manifold after seeing the migweb one

I dont know anything about mega squirt but i just used the emerarld wiring diagrams and it worked.

I'm using 2ltr injectors but it has been mapped and its stripped bare so yeh pretty quick(140bhp)

Id say get decent mangement cant knock emerald plus I have some maps you can copy

chuck that coil pack away it aint going to last, get one from a mk2(indicators in the headlamps) focus or mondeo as they run the same coil packs..they will last longer and not have the same problems where they break down

Use a 1.8/2L ECOtec coilpack as already said.

The x16xe etc ones are self amplified, whereas the 1.8/2L eco ones aren't.
Its what sbd supply with there tb kits.

I still dont understand why your having problems with the standard one tbh, megasquirt can use it...
If your not getting a spark, id look more at the crank trigger wheel settings than the coilpack.

I use a focus st170 coil pack, only £30 new and GM leads fit perfectly. Its what I use on all of my TB conversions.

Unreliable? I have never had 1 failure.
