I've come across a 1.0 12v Corsa in Arden blue on an R plate in Brilliant condition on a cheap price, however a 2.0 16v or an LET conversion is a must if i buy it as that's my only reason for being interested.
so my question is, being a crappy 12v will it make the conversion harder or more expensive?

12v is harder to wire but the rest is the same.
Where abouts in Ashton are you? i live near smokies

i went from 1.0 12v to a 1.4 16v and the loom just needs to be re-routed down teh drivers side of the body, you will see a gromit covering the hole to run your loom down into the cabin

Is that an easy job?
Im wanting to convert my 1.0 later in time but alot of people say not to bother and just buy a corsa with the ecu inside the car.
Surely its not too much hassle?

you arebest off keeping your electronic power steering, the ecu for this is kept on the drivers side kick panel wasnt too hard to do, got the old engine out, and new 1 in, within the day, was then a case of gettin the wiring loom in. keep your current gearbox, and find yourself a 8v flywheel if u get a 1.4 or 1.6 makes for a quick car, but slightly lower top end speed.

if u have a 1.0 then ya do pull off the kick plate next to your right foot and if there is a box there that looks like an ecu, then u got the electronic type, which is what the rally boys use, or so i been told

swapping your clocks for the 16v model would be advisable too so your rev counter is accurate when i put the 1.4 in, my car was bouncing off the limiter at 4k!!

my corsa (champion) came with powersteering, then again could the year it was made have anything to do with it?? mine is a 2000.... whats that W reg?? i live in ireland now, so they go by years instead of letters

i dunno pow, im tempted to disconnect mine, makes it more of a drivers car as u feel everything through the wheels better, helps to tone ur muscles aswel

mine now has leccy windows, digi dash, 256mm discs up front, 260mm mk3 astra gsi discs on the rear, interior ripped out bar the front seats and 4point race harnesses, sportex 3inch outwardly rolled exhaust system, 1.4 16v corsa sport engine with 1.6 ecu
