I was thinking about this the other day. How do you feel you live your life?
I know people who live their life solely at the present! Living their life to the full now. They do everything they want to do, buy everything they want, go travelling spending shit loads and don't really care to much about what happens in the future, they just want to enjoy life right now!
I personally am currently living for the future, I've dulled down my life now, to try to save money, I'm working seriously hard on my uni work and hoping to get a good grade. As a result though, I feel that my life is slipping through my fingers and I've not really been making the most of it, especially while I'm young. I still go out and have a good laugh, but I don't do everything I want to do right now. For example, I haven't just spunked all my money on a brand new car, or just gone for 365 days a year piss up etc Problem is I've been looking to the future for so long now, I've barely lived for the present! and I can't see it getting any better when I finish uni and get a job / mortgage etc (big regrets!).
Finally, are you the sort of person who's had the good laugh, pissed about, had fantastic times but now see the rest of your life will most likely be a bit of a drag. I've had mates who've had the best time of the their lives the last 4 years or so, i.e. pissing it up at uni on a doss course. But now it's all over, they're stuck in some boring dead end office job, no spare cash, no house, lost most of their social base and only look back on the good times they had, not really living now, or planning for the future.
Anyone else feel they're in one of those 3 categories? I wish I was 'living for now' - as you could die tommorrow and you're only young once! but I do feel I need to build up some financial worth, before I can start enjoying life to the full.

I think its based on yor own circumstances. If I wasnt with my girlfriend who Ive been with for 3 1/2 years I would be living more for the present, as it is, we are both saving for our own house which we see as the most fulfulling way to show success in life. Atm we dont go out at all, never really seen the allure of going out and getting pissed, even though Im at uni, and much prefer to sit in at home and do something

I'm stuck between living for the present and planning for the future...
I've got plans in place for my own place after summer and my career is on the right path etc, currently paying off outstanding debts (end of the month I will have just the 1 loan and no credit card debt etc )
I do have a tendency to live for the present though, buy what I want and what not, sometimes sit back and turn down nights out and that though to save money (but mainly cos I want to buy something else with the cash )

i live for now, or i have done for the last four years. i was only 16 when i first went to uni and im 20 now and have a well paid job with alot of responsibilities. i spend my money on what i want when i want.
i do always have great visions of saving the pennies for a rainy day but im still young and as much as i would like to do that i would rather be getting fooked up at weekends and having a good time.
i can see me settling down in a couple of years and getting my own place but when i do that i believe i will still be living for the present as that will be what i want to do when i get to 22/23.

I'm living for the future - and I continuously think "what if?"!
I'm at Uni like a lot of us, and I made the conscious decision to live at home whilst I'm doing it. Yes, I regret not living away after seeing pictures of my mates at Uni and hearing stories. But then I think. I've got into Corsasport etc which is awesome, still go biking which is great and have a loving girlfriend that I like spending time with.
If I was living away i.e. living for the present I'd merely be pissing all my money down the drain, feeling shit because I'm not biking and eating shit food. The list goes on.
I'm actually happy living for the future. I'm happy not going out, getting pissed every week. I am happy with the life I'm living.
And I'm trying to save for the future. Got 2 jobs (one is my bread and butter, the other work experience but paid) and saving as much as I can without going without for a month.

No point living in the past, that's been done and dusted. I tend to live for the day and present, with a little bit of planning for the future- obviously with my mortgage and job/work stuff etc I can't be too lackadaisical regarding not planning for the future. However, no point imo planning for the future too much as things often change so quickly

Living just after the present. Buy pretty much whatever I want, do what I want, but keep things in mind that I will want.

That sums me up aswell. I pretty much do what I want, but keep an eye on things coming up that I may need to save for etc.
