when i start my car up i get a ticking noise from around the inlet area, it gets faster the quicker i go but it soon goes away
its an L reg sri 8v

tappets, they quiten down after a while as the oil has got to the top of the engine after a few minutes

oil and filter change with a good engine flush is needed i think.

i just topped up with oil last week, it wasnt seriously low or anything
ive had the car 6 months and not done a service on it
so oil change is what needed then?

i should be I, type correctly for fuck sake
If you look after the old SRI 8v they will go on for ever, only things stopping you are cam belt and headgasket.
you had it six months and done nothing with it engine wise, someone before you had it and probably done nothing with it engine wise.
Small problems can become big problems fast on old cars.
