Brief description of what overclocking is please?
Pros/Cons?
I have an old 1.3Ghz (i think) chip, can i overclock this?
Also tried installing a game and said something about SSE Instructions?
Can i install these or is ith in the chip?
I feel like a right n00b at all this lol

Overclocking is increasing the standard processing (clock) speed of a processor.
The 1.3GHz figure comes from two figures, the FSB (front side bus) and multiplier. You can increase one or the other (or both) to overclock the processer - this is done via the BIOS.
But I wouldn't bother. The gains you'll see will be tiny and new processors can be had for next to nothing.

i clocked my amd duron 1Ghz.... it overheated and melted.... still worked mind lol

My old PC was overclocked.
Was 2.0Ghz had it 'clocked to 2.4Ghz and it ran smoothly.
As long as you have a decent aftermarket HSF and don't 'clock it too much, ya should be fine.

I wouldn't really bother with the 1.3ghz chip, you will not see noticable gains. Plus like necro mentioned, it would run more hotter so you'd need a good heatsink fan. More money than it's worth.
