buying a corsa gsi on the weekend for the engine and im wondering how can i tell that its a gsi engine and not a 1.4 or 1.6 16v? just to be sure its a proper gsi engine that im buying

Plastic inlet for GSi

Vauxhall on engine cover for GSi as opposed to Ecotec for later engines i think

x16 and c16 are both gsi engines theres no right or wrong yours is a x16xe

that is an x16xe because it says ecotec and it has a cast inlet.
the "real" gsi c16xe has slightly bigger valves

actually i think the only way of telling a x14xe from an x16xe is whats stamped on it

there still both very tunable but my preference would be a rebuilt c16xe

c16xe engine has an AFM to piss you off, but the x16xe has an egr valve to piss you off.

an x16xe with no sai and no egr with a ported c16xe head would be my aim

yes it does stops you taking a intake plenum off when you have throttle bodies

TBH, megasquirt is more like a collection of wires and capacitors than an ECU, but that's another thread, which we've already had and went on for about 213123532 pages
