paint straight onto the top of wallpaper? quite bored of my current wall layout, and wanna change it, cant be assed stripping all the paper off though as dont have the time either. its just bog standard wallpaper
will it jus come away from the wall if i paint on top of it?

Just leave a steamer in there for an hour, it'll just fall off itself.

dont be a half a job harry  you may aswell get a steamer and strip the paper off and do it properly as will look much better

Yeah suppose aslong as the wallpaper aint 3D lol But aye will be much harder to get off when it comes to it

As said, leave a steamer in there for a little while, when it all falls off simply turn it off and open a window to stop dampness, wait for it to dry out then paint, it will be worth it in the long run, and will look shite if one piece of paper comes down cos even if you do paint the wall behind it it will be obvious

Just put soapy water into a bucket, drag a stanley knife over the paper, and then put a load of water onto it. Leave it for 5mins and then it'll near enough fall off.
Much quicker and easier than steaming.

yes but he will probably strip the paper off and the walls underneath will be absolutely crap with loads of gouges etc

if the walls are shite use lining paper on the walls then paint over, thats what we do anyway

Tom this is my exact problem, the walls are absolutely shocking, probably in need of a good skim 2 be honest, but i dont really plan on being in the house that long

depends, some wall paper like super fresco is made to be painted. if you just have plain shit wall paper.. strip it, get it plastered and then painted

try painting a bit of the paper first and see what happens. if it comes off then you might be best repapering with suer fresco or lining paper. just moved into a house where they have papered every room, even the bathroom  so taking ages to get it sorted but i plan on being here a while so i've got half of the walls replastered
