Interested in a De-cat.

Does anyone know what the BHP gain will be approx?

Also, does anybody declare this with insurance? If so, how much are they likely to put it up by?

Im with adrian flux

Yea? What would anyone recommend doing at least before recommending a de-cat?

Is BMC anygood? If any, how much BHP could it potentially release? im thinking about 1-3? if that! lol

definately better to start with something with more power then upgrade from that, but anything you do to yours you can always swap to an x16 at a later date

only 3bhp difference, plus you've got less chance of finding a healthy older engine, ecotecs are more readily availabe

Well the one im looking at has had a full re-built, except there is an issue with the head-gasket so it does need a new one (again)

But tuning wise wouldn't be different though from either?

when was it fully rebuilt? if it needs a new head gasket again it will probably be something else, i.e. warped head

I have got a BMC, used to have a pipercross on it, the BMC is amazing.
I got no idea on official figures or anything, but it makes a nice sound, seems to pick up faster and after 3000 revs, the car shoots off and pulls really strong.
I have a X14XE too, no exhaust mods or anything.
I would recommend you get a BMC though.
and they look cool:
