Enclosed is always better than an open cone. Warm air costs performance.

BHP increase on a standard car, hardly any.

I have a BMC induction kit, and I love it. I put it on my X14XE pretty much straight away, so no idea how much difference it made, but probably done something.

If you are getting an induction kit, get one of these, as they are better than any open cone one, as its heat shielded and has a cold air pipe bolted on, so only sucks up nice cold air.
Which is good.

And they look nice fitted, expensive though. So its up to you, if you can afford one, or can get it cheap - like i did =] - then definately get one.

I think they are around £140 from most places.
I got mine for £50, cos my dad manages a motor factors, and they had one there for ages, so sold it to me for cheap. =]

It is a lot quieter than pipercross/k and n, i think. Had a pipercross on my 1.2 clio before and the BMC is a lot quieter, but you can still tell there is something different with the engine. If that makes any sense. lol

Piccie of one fitted if it helps make your mind up:

Just get a new paper panel filter, much much cheaper and will give you similar gains.
