Trying to think of options as to what to get. Was planning on a GSi but need something with a bit more room.
Probably 1.8 at most, definitely no more than a 2l.
Preferably a 5 door but doesnt really matter as long as it's a decent size.
Budget is £3.5k
Currently looking at MK IV astras but just wondering what else there is and what you would go for.

Could get a early Leon or Golf for that money
1.6 with a decent spec, or a early TDi

Think I've decided it's between the astra and the A3.
The only other one I'm thinking of is a focus

Yep 130bhp, not sure how much torque?
Ever increasingly tempted to get it chipped/remapped, though dont really want to splash any more cash on it, got a sizeable bill next month for mot/service/tax all at once also.

It will be dog for 3.5k imo. High mileage. But if he can stretch to over 4k then get one

Focus or Astra, both are pretty solid and reliable and don't cost the earth to fix and maintain.
