lol there's nothing wrong with the 12v, it's just small.

Just because it's a small engine, doesn't mean to say it's made out of tin cans

Your right just because its a small engine doesnt mean its crap, however the 12v is. Its a seriously shocking engine and all it ever seems to do is chug.

Well you must have got a shitter or something, both mine and Fonz's are fine.

And if you're on about a lumpy idle, that is normal, having 3 cylinders. I had a similar sized engine Yaris courtesy car, 3 cylinder, 12v. That also had lumpy idle. You could just feel it less because the car is better built.

12v's are slow, yes. A rubbish engine? I wouldn't say so.

I have a 12V and would say there's nothing wrong with it. Of course it's a bit slow being a 1 litre with 3 cylinders (a blistering 16.5 secs to 60 ) but as a cheap way to get your first year's no claims, it's great, and good about town because it's great on fuel.

Obviously it sounds weird on idle because they lopped a cylinder off, but that's what you get for being efficient and whatnot

All these rattles people are complaining of are quite possibly because the cam chain needs replacing.

Mine's lovely and quiet compared to the diesel it used to sound like. All I can here now are the injectors ticking away.

Never owned and never will, I used to work on them day in day out and it would be a rarity if we didnt have one in the garage due to:

- Timing chain falling apart
- Numerous AFM problems (or other sensors failing causing the effect)
- ECU's rattling to pieces
- EGR valves randomly failing
- Oil pressure switches that just dont open or close an thus dont allow any oil top end and thus what normally takes the chain with it.

IMO the worst engine to be found in a corsa by a long way

Only just found this thread again

My 12v has just turned 80k, I got it on 59k.

In that time, I had the cam chain replaced (fair enough, got it done cheap by warren.g) and replaced an AFM BUT it wasn't throwing up any EML.

Since that, and in all those miles, NOTHING has gone wrong with the engine.

Treat an engine with respect and it'll do the same back it seems
