anyone had this done and is it worth it?
been thinking about getting my rub strips removed and tailgate debadged but got a feeling the colour is goin to slightly different underneath and was wondering if mopping would sort it out

yes def worth doing if your paints abit faded or in need of a good buff up

i had overspray on my car from a previous accident and you could really notice the cut in marks, i mopped mine in the body shop and it worked perfect, but i would highly reccomend masking up and window rubbers and black plastics etc.  you wont be disapointed with the finish

so it would remove any faded marks where the rubstrips and badges have been?

Mopping isnt long lasting and is literally a cheap respray.
Either get it resprayed or dont bother mate, Honest.

Mopping is long lasting as long as you look after it once its done

dont really wanna pay a fortune for a full respray mate as im not sure how long i will be keeping my car for.

Mopping is long lasting as long as you look after it once its done
basically its like having a car from new and if you don't look after it the paint will look crap after some time,is that what you mean?

Not really, Mopping is covering up defects.
I'd never mop a car, Either respray or as phil mentioned, A decent detail by a company.

What do they actually do to 'mop' the car, as a flame red owner, I'm naturally interested in getting this done - is it basically paying someone to t-cut the car?

A quick buff all over by a bodyshop will be about £50 I would of thought, getting it deatiled will be hundreds and a repaint best part of a grand.
Good solution if you just want to freshen it up a bit IMO

When I worked in a bodyshop it was just going over the car with the buffer and G3

Yeah but its the same idea and on a Corsa I wouldn't rule out getting a bodyshop to buff it over. Its hardly worth spending £2-300 on getting it detailed or £1000 on a respray.

Mopping as mentioned is where the car is buffed with a rotary polisher using g3 which is a cutting compound, which in turn in single english cuts through a slight layer of the laquar taking any marks or faded patches away.
It isnt covering up anything it is removing them! its only £70 for a reason, because thats all it costs to do it, ie an hour and a half at most of labour!

Of course you will, when people say it removes lacquer where talking microns not huge quantities (unless you go ott).
