It stops flex between the lower suspension points so it means the suspension is actually doing its job as intended rather than also fighting against flexing type forces on the car.

They hang low, I have a Weichers polished one and certainly if you had a low car you could fuck it up easily on a speed bump etc at speed, or worse still it doesn't break and pulls alll the suspension points to piss. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other.
