my alloys have arrived today but ive just fitted them and the inner tyre on the fronts are catching on the coilovers, well basically resting on them..
its lowered about 65/70mm on the front on 15" alloys (et49) and with 195/45 tyres..
realy need some spacers for the fronts, would 10mm spacers be ok?
not that many places sell them off the shelf i dont think and the only place ive spotted them is halfords, probly universal fitment but they should be fine shouldnt they?
need some answers asap please..

just been on halfords website and they do..
3,5 and 9.5mm spacers for 4 stud alloys
which ones seem best to go for?
wouldnt cause any more problems fiting them would they?

Turn the wheel full lock and gauge for youself what size you need - make an educated guess....
Too much and it'll foul the arch, not enough and it will still foul coilover, thats what I would do anyway.

its quite abit away from the outer arch so i could get 9.5mm spacers..
but then again i reckon 5mm spacers will take it off the coilovers, but not sure how much clearance its going to give me with 5mm..
il go and check now

Ah i see - you might get away with 9.5's if you have 15's although that is just a guess...

On ET45 wheels I had to use 9.5mm spacers to clear Spax RSX!
I thought 5mm was enough but found out the hard way, make sure you keep an eye on them!
yours is also an extra 4mm towards the coilovers than my old wheels were!
I'm now on ET35 fronts

i reckon mine are about 2/3mm away from the coilovers so another 5mm should clear it i think...
dont want it to push it out to far as the front of mine is lowerd about 70mm so dont want it to catch on the outer arch..
what do you think though dan?

I thought 5mm was enough, it was when parked up and looking, but got to consider suspension movement when out on the road!
I wore threw the inner wall of two 16" tyres by going 5mm when I needed an extra 4.5mm to be safe!
Don't forget about longer wheel bolts either when buying spacers!
If you think 5mm is enough buy them, run them for a few weeks and keep checking your inner tyre wall!
Any signs of scrubbing get some bigger spacers!

would be different with 15s though wouldnt it?
would i need longer wheel bolts with 5mm spacers?
thought you would only need longer wheel bolts when going more like 20/30mm spacers

Depends how long your original bolts are, if you add 5mm to it how many threads holding the bolt on same if you add 9.5mm etc!
Mine were too close with 5mm and wouldn't touch with 9.5mm
15's might be different, best way is trial and error, but keep an eye on them I didn't and wore threw two tyres while driving

cant believe this though, expected to to just fit the alloys when they arrive and thats it..
found out that one tyre was the wrong way round so i went to take it to get it swapped round, then found it had a bulge on it and needed to be changed..
then the fronts was catching on the coilovers so i need spacers and then longer wheel bolts..
tyre £40
spacers £15/20
longer bolts £16
realy pissed off to say the least!

Won't need spacers or longer bolts for the rear, but don't forget about locking nuts either..... (might require to be longer)

just a thought but get the camber adjusted first before you buy any spacers as i bought some cheap coilovers off ebay for my gf car when i fitted them they had camber adjustment and that is why the coilover was touching so i got the tracking and camber adjusted and was no need for wheel spacers

could try loosening the hub and pulling it away from the shock. Done this when fitting my mates coilies as they tyres were rubbing on the inside. You'll need your tracking done though.
