the laptop need formatting, have a legal copy of XP PRO on disc but no registration code for it, have been told that there is such thing as a registation code generator? have managed to use a program that tells me the code for my existing copy of XP but I need to find the codes for one I have on disc

any advice

You will find many a code or key generator on torrent sites.

The key generators found on torrents are not meant for original copies though. The key you will find can be used with any copy.

Apparently you have to either use a non-genuine key or buy another copy

Download Utorrent program.
Go to any torrent sites such as Mini Nova and search away

Are you using XP Pro at the moment? You can just use the program you've got to find the key you're using and install with that key, surely?

You only need a reg code for the same build as the software you're installing, so if you have an XP Home OEM CD, get an XP Home OEM CD reg code etc.

You should also have a sticker on the laptop with a an OEM reg code on, ideally use that. If you need a CD for the reg code on the sticker u2u me.

I use Magical JellyBean to pull the current code off, then use this to reformate so long as its the same OS type/version
