Author Grinding sound from under the bonnet

recently ive been hearing a nasty grinding sound coming the engine, I can't hear it obviously when im driving properly but when going slow or stood still, you can hear it quite loud. It's a 1.4 16v Sport if that helps at all

Anybody have any idea what this is?

Sorry ive misread your question.

If its DEFINATELY your engine then its obviously not what i said. Is the noise not coming from the footwell area?

Have you tried reving it on the spot? to see if it does it then?

yeh its 100% in the engine, if i put my ear to the top u can hear it a lot! ill try revving it on the spot when i go to my car, n ill let you know

Are your fan belt and cam belt and all associated pulleys clear of everything? i.e. cam rubbing on cam cover or whatnot

Full Tensioner set, new water pump, cam belt...

Thats what cured mine (Had the same problem as stated in the title thread)
