Right im trying to build a new computer as its my birthday soon so will be able to get a chunk of cash towards it.

Criteria for the build:

Internet use
- Downloading
- 32" Samsung HD LCD will be the monitor so I want it to output at 1080i
- Playback of HD media aswell as normal media (large part of its use)
- Maybe some light gaming but I have a console so will be minimal
- Web design work including photoshop
- Must be as quiet as possible as its in my bedroom
- Future proofed so I can upgrade it easily in the future.

So far I have come up with this spec:

Can you tell me if thats all compatible?
Am I going to need anything else to get up and running (connectors or other little bits?)
Any parts you would substitute for others?

I have the OS already so thats not a problem.

Thanks in advance

Any suggestions for the components you mention?

It took so long to find a case I liked It needs to be a good quiet case so do you have any suggestions for case and PSU's?

As russ said, seperate case and psu, plus have a look at the Abit IP35 Pro (im looking at the Pro XE) suppose to be a really good board and is similar money.

Looks like a good setup, though it might be worth shopping around as you could probably save £40 on that - ie: Q6600 G0 can be had for £127 at Aria (inc del) - though you can get it from IT247 for £112 but its been said that it might be the naff B3 stepping version and old stock (was posted on hotukdeals, worth keeping and eye out though). Scan.co.uk do free del through Hexus forums (just sign up and click a link).

The cooler is pretty good, but if you jungle things around then you might have spare cash for a thermalright 120 extreme cooler and then get a decent 120mm fan - suppose to be one of the best coolers around for the Q6600.
Also have a look at a Nvidia 8800GT, about another 10-20 quid buys you a BFG card that at stock is a lot quicker in benchmarks than the Ati 3850. Plus you can clock the BFG to near enough GTS standards.

might be worth signing up to the overclockers.co.uk/hexus forums and asking on there about your spec. Plus read a load of reviews before you buy the stuff to see if theres any problems. And make sure you have the update to date drivers on CD, don't use the ones that come with items (graphics, mobo etc).
Oh and add a tube of artic silver paste or similar for the CPU and Cooler
