It has always been an intention of mine to get my punto out on the track
My aim so far is to get out onto silverstone during TRAX, Im pretty sure then that the bug will bite and it will become a regular thing, thing is why do people use track wheels? is it so you dont fuck your good tyres or do you wrap your track wheels in better tyres than your road ones??

I'd just use your normal wheels/tyres for the first few times. If the bug does bit then get a spare set of cheap alloys/steelies and whack some decent tyres on them.

Use normal tyres to begin with, the lower grip level means you're going slower when you fall off the track, which means less damage.
You'd be best having a second set of tyres/wheels though as a decent track session will ruin your tyres if/when they get too hot.

tbh if your thinking about track then your going to want to change more than just the tyres. As i very much doubt the brakes in particular & possibly suspension will be ideal.
Take a standard car take it easy & if you want more then upgrade the above mentioned.

sticky tires = more stress on suspension = more grip = possibly oil surge from increased corniner speeds/G = dead bottom end
