Are these cams from blanks or reprofiled?
I have an engine that is supposed to have 272 cams in it looking at them they appear to have std vauxhall casting marks on them.
So i'm assuming they are reprofiled or they aren't 272s lol.
How do i measure them to check?
Thanks

You can measure the profile using a dial gauge indicator.
I mount the cam in a bare cylinder head, make a 360 degree wheel and attach it behind the pulley. Rotate the cam and record the amount of lift for however many degree increments you choose.

or measure the height and width of the cam lobe, subtract the width from the height = amount of lift on the cam.

what does the 272 refer too? duration i assume rather than lift
can't be open for 272 degrees though can they? So i assume thats from when the valve starts to lift its seat to when it closes?
What are std c20xe cams?

Yes crank.
Do forget the crank does 2 revolutions for 1 of the cam.

It'll be off its seat more than 272 degrees. Standard cams are open 270 degrees in total. The 272 duration figure is quoted at a certain lift value.
