There is a massive website/forum post somewhere about how buying expensive speaker cable doesn't make any difference.

I find it hard to belive you can spend £100 on a cable. Let alone £10k. My friend told me how important it was that he had a £100 HDMI cable once. It pissed me off so fucking much

Next time you see that friend tell him he's a retard, no benefit over one that costs a fiver.

I did, he was having none of it 'because the guy in the shop told him he needed it'. I didn't mention that the guy in the shop earns commision from sales, and the commision from a cable is certainly going to be higher than the commision on the TV he had just bought due to the profit margins.
You don't see gold plated 0% oxygen pure copper Cat 5 cables FFS

That's bloody ridiculous.
It's quite funny asking salesmen for advice on HDMI cables, some of the things they come out with

I put money on the average person being able to hear fuck all difference between the two. Fair enough if using shitty bell cable but a decent couple of £ per metre stuff compared to that mega expensive cable.

It is when you haven't had an ear transplant from a bat. Human hearing isn't that sensitive.

Its only worth buying 'more' expensive hdmi cables (and note I didnt say £500 ones) when you are operating them on runs of 50M or more because the impurities thus noise amplify over longer runs.

You will be able to hear the difference. From a cheep cable to that. Will be a huge difference.
Besides, you would use this with some top of the line b&o b&w speakers etc

HDMI is different because it's digital. Speaker wire isn't. You'll only notice a difference in PQ and SQ when the HDMI cable is around 7m or longer... Up to that length, any cable will work fine -- even a £2 HDMI cable off eBay. The picture won't be worst. It's like a USB cable, it either works or it doesn't. Speaker cable is different and the quality is effected and yes, it does make a difference... I've spent £400 on speaker cable for my bedroom alone.

I'd challenge you to tell the difference between 100 quid worth of speaker cable and 400.
I know it does make a bit of a difference but not that much, if you buy half decent stuff that does the job perfectly well.

There's probably about 50m of speaker cable in my room and £2 per metre isn't really all that in terms of quality. I'm using QED X-Tube and I did notice a very slight difference when upgrading from QED Original (£2 per metre cable).
It's very slight, but it's noticable.

Unless someone can actually come in and think he has some good speaker cable I don't see the point

I know it's there and it's my room so there's a lot of point IMO.
