bought myself a garmin sat nav the other day and the 12v cigarette lighter lead does not fit in my cigarette light socket, the end on the lead is longer than the depth of the actual cigarette lighter.
i went to halfords to see if i could get a adapter of some kind but they said they don't do them and that all garmin 12v socket leads are the same length.
has anyone else had this problem?and where can i get some kind of a adapter from?

What so the connections on the side of plug do not touch the sides of the fag lighter?

yes when its plugged in there is a small bit of the plug with the silver bits on the side is sticking out a bit.
so i was wondering if there is any adapters that will plug into my cigarette lighter so i can then plug the garmin lead into that if you know what i mean.

You can usually screw the bottom of it down or up to compensate for differences in design, have you checked it is screwed so it is at it's smallest...
Mine usually has a small part of the connections poking out but not much btw.

do you think this will work .
the part that goes in the cigarette lighter looks shorter that the garmin plug end.
