some lad was asking why i removed my EGR valve to which i explained it was faulty and i just got a circuit made up to make the engine think its there.. (common fuckup with the 2.2)

so i then had a though.. when i did my RR'd the other month it was running rich, quite rich.... now as far as my knowledge goes.. the EGR is used to recycle some of the exhaust gasses back into the cylinders which is why when a buggered EGR appears to throw the EML light on its because its recycling too much gas, causing misfires..

so i was thinking if there is no EGR at all to send back these gasses would the car then run rich? as standard i.e no remap (yet)

egr doesn't change lambda

Its nitrogen gasses they help stop by increasing intake temps iirc

your ECU takes info from MAP/AFM to determine how much air it needs to fuel for.

If the bodge (circuit) was done correctly I cant see it being a problem. If it wasnt done correctly and the ECU is thinking the EGR 'air' is expected in the equation it will be an issue.

EGR is not active under high throttle and load, as it would have been on the dyno.

That would explain my car running fine under full throttle and crap/stalling under little throttle when my egr valve got blocked by some metal.

anyone beable to counjour up an explination as to why its running rich,

standard ones run rich anyway.. but not as rich as mine

very rich as soon as it goes open loop so unlikley its lambda sensors.

find a decent garage that has live diagnostic reading equipment so they can see whats going on with each individual sensor. Ideally this should be done while the car is being driven with a wideband monitor hooked up or ideally on the rolling road.

What they said Well ... I've removed EGR on my car and they don't make any difference, even passed the MOT's straight through too
