Sainsbury's hasn't gone up for a good few weeks around here. 119.9p/litre for petrol. Bearable, just.

Keep meaning to get an ASDA credit card as if you buy fuel with it from ASDA you get 2p a litre off. So would be like having 5p a litre off combined with the price drop

Good example of a loss leader situation, and psychological marketing almost.

On average I fill up about 30 litres. Saving 3p/litre, that is only 90p every fill up.

Granted, for those that drive a lot and fill up once or twice per week then they will start to see savings.

imho real savings won't be had until it drops below 100p/litre.

The fact it's the first downward turn in petrol pricing will do the majority, they can marketeer their way down to under a £1 if they so wish.

It's true. Some of my friends say things like "don't fill up there, it's cheaper down the road". The saving of 2p or 3p a litre only equates to about 50p or a £1, but then you have the inconvenience of having to drive half way accross Birmingham to fill up which probably uses more than the money saved because you sit in traffic and have to stop at lights for ages.

But in doing so I don't get hugely stressed about an increase of 30p every fill up.

How is it shocking? You must be easily shocked because it's been at that price for a long time now.

I'm paying 132p for diesel at the minute

Luckily I don't fill up to often, averaging 56mpg but since buying the car, a fillup has gone up £14 in price

Expensive would be the best word, you've got to buy petrol / diesel, so what you going to do?

Insurance is a joke, renewed mine yesterday, that's expensive.

Exactly! This 3-5p reduction still doesn't equate to your "shocking" petrol prices
