if a 1.6 16v sport engine was reading low compression on cylinder one, what would people go for on here to change, im thinking piston rings and rebore?

could be, or damaged, sticking valve?
try a wet compression test

rings in theory should be the same across the four

I would be looking more for a problem in the head!

the engine isnt in the car anymore so i cant try a wet compression test

yea im planning on doing that, i havent got it, just thought there could be a few ideas what might cause low compression on one cylinder might be a piston that is screwed or something along them lines

wether its rings or valves thats causing the problem the head needs to come off anyway

yea it was coming off anyway i was going to do headgasket cam belt before i put it in my car so i wont have anything to worry about for a few years

i want something to practise on tbh just for experiance for fixing it and working on other engines other than renaults
