I have OCD when it comes to: checking doors/windows etc are closed or locked…checking the iron is unplugged…the George Foreman is switched off....car door is locked…etc etc

Once I have the slightest doubt in my mind…I have to check it. Otherwise I sit there wondering if (a) I am being burgled (b) the flat is burning down.

I have just done a 1hr 45 min roundtrip by train (using up 1hr of lunchtime) from work to the flat and back to work to check a window (1st floor - which is accessible via a flat roof extension) was closed...as I couldnt remember closing it this morning...

I have become a lot worse the last 2-3 years...

One of my ex's had this....which is why she's an ex.

It took her 15 minutes to check everything was switched off in her 1 bedroom flat before she could leave. Then she checked outside her door (inside the building this is) to make sure she hadn't dropped anything

Edit - at first i laughed it it....then it just pissed me off and i used to get mad with her for it

I do, doors mainly. If i leave the house and get half way down the road and get the slightest amount of doubt i didnt shut the front door i have to go back. Used to happen when i was at school and i'd shit myself as i didnt have the chance to get home to check it.

At night as im always the last one in i shut and lock the front door, but sometimes i get to the top of the stairs and have to check. And even once i have checked i have to check again.

If i hear a noise when im in bed i will go downstairs and look and look and look until i know no one is down there.

I worry more than i thought

I wouldnt say I am as bad as that as I probably only normally check things are locked twice. Thats it.

Its more the once I have a doubt in my mind I did something...I need to check...

Here are more things I have:

- The order I get ready in of a morning: Open curtains, switch TV on, Iron shirt, Shave, shower, hair stuff, get dressed, brush teeth, breakfast then leave flat…If I break this order it takes me twice as long.
- TV volume has to be an even number
- SKY has to be left on BB1 when I go to bed (TV is switched off etc)...
- The orange cordial jug in the fridge always has to be topped up even if it’s full and I only take a glass out of it....

Cant see them paying out if you have left a window open whilst the house was empty...

Also it more than the contents going missing...its having someone in your home...

Heres some of the things she checked EVERY time she left the flat...

EVERY plug on the wall, even if nothing was plugged in it

The oven, even if she hadn't used it for days

Every window (fair enough)

The shower

Behind every door
