I have just put all my movies on my new laptop, but every time i try to play any of the avi movies they all come up with this same message and i dont really want to pay for the player that they show in the link cheers

Get the DivX codec pack and try that.

Just get the Vista Codec Pack. Its got everything you need

Get cccp, it's not full of codecs like the other ones, it's ffdshow and a couple for high def files, never came across anything I can't play.

or use vlc media player. www.videolan.net/vlc Plays all files, outputs in DD/DTS over SPDIF if you got it connected to a surround sound amp, plays DVDs, .vobs, .iso files etc etc and no need to download new codecs. I dont know why anyone uses anything else to be honest!

cccp plays everything in windows media player, I hate installing programs when windows comes with something that can do the job.

ill second that, plays everything ive got no problems.
