How can you make your car spit flames without the aid of a spark plug?

Engine got to be pretty powerful or can you just get them off like a 1.4 with a de-cat?

I know of a 1.2 8v that pops flames on gear changes...can be any engine AFAIK

any unburnt fuel going into a hot exhaust will burn making it spit flames

my redtop used to spit flames when ya revved it to the redline and let it down would pop and sit flames

if it spits flames it will be running rich or a high performance vehicle, turbo's also like flaming it, if it's a 1.2 it's probably fucked or if it's a carb nova for instance drive along and switch off the ignition

try disconnecting your MAP sensor...not sure if it was spitting flames but it was Popping like a bitch!! lol scared so many people down the highstreet

was thinking about a de-cat for mine, is there any chance the flames can end up going back up ur exsaust? any dangers etc?

Mine did it, at that point, I was getting around 170 miles from a tank of fuel (4 years ago) and the engine broke not long after.

carbs and very little in the way of exhaust baffling is usually a good way!

It's a great effect but unless you're running silly power it normally indicates over-fuelling which in turns usually means bore wash, which then impacts on oil consumption, generally not a good idea.

My Sport used to pop a little when it was cold out from cold when the recirc fan was on. Hardly flames though, just the odd little cough.

Yeah, i have a straight through de-cat on mine and when its cold it really pops and back fires, just wondered if there was a little flame coming out, as ive never really checked

still does it now, only iv got a few more mods now.
not all the time just when changing gear around 6.5k
