Been offered a set of gsxr 1100 carbs with inlet, filters, management etc for a decent price, but what I wanted to know is the increase in power and reliability issues (if there are any)
Also anything else you'd like to add

What management?
Depending how good the map is, and how well the carbs are setup, 170+hp id guess at

nothing wrong with a carb set up aslong as they have been set up properly, obviously throttle bodies would be a better option but the carbs will do a good enough job, ive seen a few standard redtops using R1 carbs make 180bhp so should be around that power mark, if its at a good price i'd buy them but you will be a regular at your local petrol station

Old BTCC astra/cavs used to use twin cabrs to make over 300bhp....
So they arn't that bad.
TB will give better fueling, mid range power, but carbs are great Compared to the cost of TB, a very viable option.
Seen MANY XE's make well over 200bhp on carbs, some as much as 240.

If they're anything like basic 40's then they're not that bad to set-up...

My only concern would be fueling if the car is being used daily

carbs are a manual way of controlling the fueling, so what is the managment doing, unless its ignition only, which ive never seen from omex

just dont plug the injectors wires anywhere, then you have ignition only
or you could buy the omex 200 ignition only ecu.....

When?
Considering BMW were using individual throttle bodies in the E30 BTCC cars, before the Astra was being used, I very much doubt Vauxhall would have taken a huge step back technology wise and put carbs on a 300bhp, dry sumped racing engine.
Any pics of a BTCC Astra/Cav engine bay with carbs?

I fitted and mapped an omex ignition only (200) system about 6 weeks ago onto a c20xe with carbs.

Dave - had no idea omex did that system
broster - well yes but surely knowone would buy a omex, and then only use 50% of its features ? ie only ignition
