Fair play to them, we should follow suit in England. The game over here has become for the Upper class Yuppie types who had no intrest in Football 20 years ago, but now is become fashionable, they have jumped onto the bandwagon, and priced proper fans out of the game 
Watching the Liverpool game now, atmospher is amazing compared to most grounds over here, there all stood up (no jobsworth stewards telling them to sit down) jumping up and down, having a pint in the stands. Looks class

That has nothing to do with the 'upper yuppie class types'. That has everything to do with nanny state UK stopping you from doing anything that they class as dangerous - and apparently standing in grounds is just that.

In all honesty safety comes first, fair enough there was better atmosphere all those years ago but the stands were full of drunken yobs.
The fact it's a spectator sport for families now kills a lot of the atmosphere but there's nothing you can really do about that.

I think we have gone too far now and we need to allow a little more freedom inside the grounds.
A group of fans for us (called Reclaim the Kop - RTK) approached the club last summer and requested a section of the Kop where they could all sit together and try to improve the atmosphere. So they all had their season tickets moved to this section and it did work in some games where they started the chants and it spread.
They have now been given another section next to theirs (centre of the Kop) and the chance to all ST holders to move their was given when the renewal forms went out.
Now IMO this is the way forward. Have a section which is all seated and you have to sit for families, and then you can have a section thats for groups of fans who want to stand, chant and improve the atmosphere at grounds. Im not saying to allow it to be as mad as in the 80's but certainly not as nanny state type policing as it is now.

We have had 2 sections like that for a couple of years

I honestly think thats how it needs to be, and fully expect this section to keep expanding at Anfield each season whilst the demand is there - and hopefully it will do so even though the group behind it are a bunch of jumped up self obsessed knobs.

1 of ours are the same, they've became embroiled in the politics with the board kind of thing. The Green Brigade appear just to be there to make lots of banners and sing lots of songs which can only be a good thing!

Yeah, the people who set up RTK have kind of labeled themselves as the voice of the fans and have been interviewed multiple times on SSN with our recent board room problems. Makes me so fucking mad as some of the stuff they come out with is not what the majority of fans are thinking and is more to push themselves into a more powerful/meaningful position.

At Huddersfield we have a part of the ground for all the singers to sit, has helped to improve the atmosphere a bit, but we dont really have an end we can call our own.
There has been many campaigns to get us moved into the South Stand (which is behind the goal) as we would make much more noise in there as the aqustics (sp) are a lot better, but the club refuse as they would actually have to put some thought into it to arrange policing etc.
Then they moan about lack of atmosphere

They can move the fans where they like, its still not going to improve the crap support!

Im not saying Forest is packed cos it aint. But even when the ground only has 17-18,000 in its still a good atmosphere.
And true the older Forest fans are still living in the 80's. Younger Forest fans arnt.

This is pompey's RTK equivilant. Pain in the arse if your ever sat near him in the Fratton end.
I must admit I do miss the old atmosphere of standing up and being able to get entry for a quid with my old man. The footabll industry can only be supported by very rich men and inflated ticket prices sadly.

Not for the foreseable future anyway, although their is strong backing from fans and media to bring it back.
