Anyone know of any places that would do these? Spoke to my local engineering place and they said that they could basically take a skim off the top of the piston...is that what they would all do and if so how much of a skim would need to be taken? Helllllllllp

When i priced it up, it was for it to be done properly with low comp pistons, proper management etc. The management was a fair lump of it. Think that was over 1K with mapping.

it should run without a map I would of thought as the car i got the engine out of had a standard ecu. I cant see there being a reason why it doesnt run on a standard ecu. It will just run alot better with a map and a million times better with propper management

i got a mantzel copy but think a lexmaul one would be nice and better for turbo application but don't know how boost pipe will pass for the throttle !!!

I wouldn't even entertain the idea of running on the standard management, especially if I was spending money on forged pistons, as soon as the engine comes on boost, the fuelling will be all over the place as the ECU doesn't have the ability to 'see' positive pressure.
I also wouldn't be using a mantzel copy inlet as they're not pressure tested like the genuine article and I'd put my money on it splitting with any sort of boost through it, even Lexmaul ones aren't any good as there's a core plug at one end which will just pop out.
Piston wise, remember that you're likely to get stung with import duty on those when they land in the UK, so you'd be better getting them from a UK based supplier, which also makes your life easier if you have an issue with the delivery or whatever. A set of pistons for that engine is £499 from a set in any compression ratio you like, which I reckon would work out cheaper than importing one set from the States.

My only problem I think is the a/c I really do not want to remove the a/c fear that turbo cannot fit due to compressor
was thinking of a vxr turbo z16let as manifold with turbo is set to the left of the engine cause of a/c and also you can use rods pistons form it !!

I agree with you with standard managment but I will be fitting the engine and then having to use the car for a short while beofre I can get a remap. As long as the car runs and I am able to get to work and get to the place for a remap then that will be fine. It wont be running that high boost anyway. Its only a small turbo
That sound OK robin. your the man in the know

thats bad isnt it running it on standard management for a while as the fueling is going to be all over the place, if it was me i'd save a while longer so it could be done in one go.

to get it done in one go I would need to do it outside coutenay. Thats where the remap will be getting done.

I will assure you that manzel copy I have is made of aluminium channel and thick which will not break on boost only problem it has is the vacuum pipe thread for master cycl bad design imo got it form ebay btw!!yeah lexmaul got the core plug (if it) pops out can put a thread in hole and tap it
