I'm having problems in getting my 1.6 16V Sport to go through it's MOT. It's passed on everything else apart from the emmissions test.
I have replaced the catalytic converter as well as the Lambda sensor but still having no luck!
Anyone has any ideas?
Would a power boost valve have anything to do with it?

if the fuel pressure has been turned up, then it's possible that the emmissions will be higher.

Can't you find a 'friendly' MOT place?

It's set at the standard pressure as if I were to put my standard valve back on!

Bin the valve, and fit the standard one back on. There not too good at keeping a steady pressure anyway.

Replace the Coolant Temp Sensor (blue pin) top up oil to correct level and take it for a good thrash before you take it for the emissions and aks them to do it right away.

I did thrash it on the way their but it didn't make any difference. I checked the oil and it is at the correct level so it maybe worth getting the temp sensor replaced then.

Has anyone else had problems getting their car through the emmissions test, with a FSE valve on?

I am not too up on getting a car through MOT with an FSe valve, but I do know that a few people on MIG have said they can fluctuate the pressure due to a part splitting in the valve. So, i'd change it

Maybe that is a good idea in doing so then. It's just going to be so much hassle in changing it back to normal!

Yeah I've tryed putting some stuff in with the petrol which cleans the injectors, cat etc but still no luck. How would you know if the FSE valve is faulty?

my other car failed emmisions test first time in one garage, passed no problems in other garage few days later, not being used much and not trashed before MOT. CHANGE THE GARAGE.

Which part of the emissions test is it failing on? Do you have the results handy? normal things are the cat and lambda sensor to fail emissions tests, just a thought though, how do you know its set as standard if you haven't got a pressure gauge on it?

An FSE valve shouldn't make it fail if its set correctly though, had one on my 1.4 a few years ago with no problems

It's failing in the co level as the figure is too high? It was reading 1.03 which is exceedingly high considering it's supposed to be 0.30.
Since getting a new cat and lambda sensor it was reading 0.33 so it's close.
The chap that fitted my FSE Valve set it up for me using his pressure gauge.
Is that what you ment when you said about the pressure gauge?

Yeah thats how they should be set up, using a fuel pressure gauge, if you know him then you could ask him to check it for you because it might be set a little bit high. Like you say, you dont need much to get it through now

Yeah I got him to check it again before the MOT and it was set up correctly. It certainly is a puzzle lol!
