Hi i just bought another members car and it come with a velos torque tube fitted to the engine
Can anyone tell me what its there for and does it actually make any difference to the engine

Its a very early mantzel inlet manifold copy.

The company went bust and not many of those items were sold so its actually pretty rare.

It most certainly does work it gains as much as 20bhp over stock by removing the standard restrictive ultra long inlet with the much shorter more direct torque tube.

looks alot cruder then a mantzel though

search for mantzel or lexmaul inlets on here the pricipal is the same

Is that a vxr engine

and yes they do make a noticable difference..

more so with other mods

the early velos jobbies were awesome-replaced the entire manifold-lower one as well

yeah, they made two different ones, one that was a complete replacement and that one which isnt a "copy" of a mantzel.

velos were excellent, two blokes in a shed, did some work on the micra "back in the day"
Did they go bust? I was led to believe they retired!
I've only heard good things about the torque tube

Is it worth anything then if i decide to put the engine back to standard,also does it fit any other engines or is it just for the 1.6 16v

worth what someone is willing to pay for it, tbh its a good design, better than all the copys of mantzels.

will fit a 1.4 16v and the gsi engine as well if you change the lower inlet
