Its been working fine but then all of a sudden its stopped working. Hasnt faded out or anything its just stopped. You that have air know the engine changes sound as you switch on the aircon as its under a bit more strain........ mine doesnt even do that 
Any ideas anyone has for me to look into (ripping it out isnt an option!)

Check the belt hasn't come loose.

Check to see if there is any gas in it, un-screw a little black cover on one of the pipes, pit a little screwdriver in there and stand back, see if there is any gas coming out.
Also get some one to check the a/c compresser, switch it on to see if the clutch turns on and spins.

Hmm looks like i might just have to give in and take it to my mates garage  Cheers for the suggestions guys ill have a look but Air Con is something which ive never been excited over so never learnt how it works
