My car acquired a whining noise yesterday.
It gets louder up towards 50mph - then the exhaust noise drones it out, but it just whiiiiiiiiiiiines

Ive read the possibility being the wheel bearing, but with it making a noise is it worth just replacing it? instead of tightening it? ( dont know what that does)

Ill have a proper look tomorrow, just wanted to know.

Thanks - Marc

Front or rear? You can only tighten the rears if theres play, If a bearing whines then its fooked and should be replaced jack the car up and spin the wheel and you should hear the whine

corsas are notorious for getting whistles jammed in the grill. check to see if there are any stray whistles about.

Answer incase anyone is searching to no avail like i have been.

There are cut outs in the inside of the drum which allow you to get a flat bladed screwdriver in.
Then just give them a heafty smack Bit of brute force works.
