Ok, as some of you may know ive been having serious problems with emmisions.

At first --

CO2 - (max 0.50) Reading - 5.4%

Hc - (max - 200) reading - 547

Lambada - (0.97-1.03) reading - 1.25

Therefore i have purchased -

New Vaux lamba Sensor
New Standard Vaux Cat
Down pipe to fit Cat to manifold.
New valves etc

But just had a phone call to say its still a big fail, and the readings aint altered at all.

Now i aint got a clue what i should do now, the garage did however suggest that the ECU may be the problem, and did ask if it has been "chipped" i dont know. but may of done from the past owner.

So will a chipped ECU mess it up like this? hence me needing to plug another standard X16XE ECU in?

or any other suggestions. BIG help needed

Cheers. appreciate the help guys!

I had a tig 1.6 go like that and got the same readings, after £500 i threw in the towel and scrapped it. Burnt to much oil asnd caused it to fail badly. If it runs cleanly without oil or smoke then look towards the ECU but it sounds suspicious that the garage didnt check it for fault codes first to find a problem. If code 94 comes up start crying Quad Drive module in the ECu or something.

And can someone tell me why they have fitted a new down pipe? wtf has that got to do with emmissions?
Or did you have a full system on it?

O because it was needed to fit the cat to the manifold. as i have a sports cat on at the moment and a new down pipe was needed

and the car runs absolutly perfectly. no smoke/no problems etc. just a little thirsty.

and the ECU light has always come on, but never affected driving etc/ runs perfectly as said. the code which was diagnosed was to do with the lambada apparently. which has now been changed.

sooo confused

could be a 'chipped' ecu as will just make it overfuel. hence HC reading.

CO2 - misfiring at all?

both will cause lambda reading to be out,
id go with trying a standard ecu first. maybe ask someone to lend you one for the test?

Just finding someone that will lend me one is the problem

And misfiring? at odd times when started from cold, yes it did do this.

wouldnt apply to the test then if its only at cold.

best option is ecu as its odd that all 3 are so high. specially HC seems like loads of fuel is there unburnt.

timing belt been done recently? timing correct?

edit: you say its thursty too so definetly overfuelling. id say you have a mccains chip in there somewhere

the timing could be a cause if the ignition timing is out it will be leaving alot of unburnt fuel. henc HC's and guzzling fuel.

luke, i send you the ecu and transponder chip tomorow, u2u me stuff, but i spoke to someone he doesnt think that a chiped ecu shouldnt do that though check inlet manifolds for leaks, possible look into changing coolant temp sensor

So it may not be the ECU

O man im near to giving up.

So Could be either

ECU
Air Coolent Temp
Or maybe timing hasnt been done properly?
Or something to do with the inlet manifold?
Or the K & N cone filter?
