Smoke while its on boost is probably the turbo as Andy has said. Take off one of the boost pipes and see if it has oil in it

Suprisingly easy to kill a turbo after 40k miles, oil need to be up to temp before going into boost and they need to be driven steady for the last couple of minutes. On modern cars the turbo is so quiet and smooth people hardly notice them so just drive them like non turbo cars

also people dont realise they should leave them running if theyve been hard on boost, as the turbo will still be spinning after you shut the car of and the turbo will starve of oil as there no supply, hence turbo timers

I didnt know this! When you say hard boost do you mean generally hairing about like on fire all the time or generally flooring it for overtaking then going back to normal speeds before getting home?

yes basically if your booting it everywhere the turbo will be hot and spinning at a very high RPM, so basically if youve been nailing it about and pull up and turn ur car off the supply of oil to the turbo is lost and as it is hot and still spining it will where the bearings out in the turbo, so its suggested to leave the car running for a few minutes after uve pulled up to let the turbo cool down and slow down, basically if you have a turbo timer it will do this for you but you can takew the keys out the ignition and lock the car up and walk away then the car will automatically turn of when the turbo fine.

The turbo's seem to go on the zaf's quite early due to the weight they pull and probilly not letting the turbo cool or in some cases warm up.

Blue smoke does normally mean turbo

I have one for sale if he need's a replacement

Might have to keep that in mind then, I assume its the same for diesel turbos as well, or are they operating differently so dont have to worry about this?
