Ok before I jack the car up does anyone know how the cat pipe is connected I know there is a flange at one end and just pipe at the other. So at the pipe end does it slide onto the rest of the system (sleeve) or does it require welding? Thanks.

it just slots in at the pipe end then has u-clamps to tighten it all up, if you fit a de-cat to the standard system you'll have to saw through the standard system a little bit.
be warned the bolt will be well rusty and hard to get off and the gasket ring that attaches the cat and manifold often crumbles away.

Ok thanks mate, think i'll need to bandage it just now and get a garage to sort it
