Giving my 1.4 16v Corsa Sport a proper going over, full service, cleaning out the breather pipes, egr and ic valves.
I have taken the ICV off and have the black half with the 'spring bit' in it. Is it right that the 'spring bit' cannot be depressed? Or has it jammed?

thinking logically anything with a spring behind it should be able to move.... you'd think!
I cant r'ber off the top of my head 
Were you having problems with it idleing/stalling?
Give it a good clean up with carb cleaner and replace if it wasnt playing up before.
If it aint broke, dont fix it

It has had a rough idle for a while now. Have given it a spray with carb cleaner and will see what happens.

let me know if giving it a spray helps have same problem with mine and dont want to mess about as if i mess it up they are about £60ISH
