Corsa got wrote off for £1195, the brought a saxo vts for £1800...suffered back injuries in the accident...hoping to get between £1000-1500 in compo and have about £1000 or so to spare saved up.
Question is shall i mod up the saxo (lower it on bilstein kit, good tyres, induction, manifold and exhaust with decat and cams looking at about £1000) or shall i sell the saxo when compo comes through and go buy myself a 172 clio instead...which im bound to lower and try to get more power out of. Hoping to get to nurburgring again next year but im driving this time also wanna go to that 15 mile zig zag down a hill gig few hundred miles off the ring too so...saxo or 172?

Clio all the way. You'll have more power, more 'refined' and it'll be newer.

Saxo with those mods would be quicker around the track, but the Clio is more refined.

I agree Clio BUT I'd rather a minter 172 the more shitter 182, just because it's a 182.

Clio is a good car for that money.
So pleased I got rid of mine when I did or it would have been worth nothing.

Go for the 172. The 182 may have a little extra power and possibly torque but they don't handle as well as the 172.

So a Saxo with about 150+bhp that is lowered on a good suspension set up won't be quicker than a bog standard 182? I know you've owned both but I can't see any way the clio will be better except brakes maybe

TBH for a good saxo you're paying similar money to the 172's anyway

The saxo wouldnt, I dont want to start an arguement, but cornering ability on a Clio is better, brakes are better, and good brakes can gain about 2 seconds per lap compred to being about .5secs 0 - 100 quicker like the saxo would be.

The clio comes with a much better interior.
If you can really get ph2's for 2500 you're gettin xenons, climate etc for pennies.

4 star ncap rating to a 2 star would say if you felt safer you were massively mistaken.

If you plan to modify the car in anyway, don't get the Saxo. Whatever you touch on it, it will cry, brake and go in a big sulk.
