I'm after a socket set that has allen key heads on them, need it to remove my calipers, do Halfords stock this kind of thing?

On a side not to that, why do such retarded bolts have to be used now, what's wrong with a simple 13mm bolt? It fucks me off so much.

On the Astra the bolts holding the suspension struts on are star bolts, they are prime to rounding off. I mean why use that? What's wrong with a 19mm bolt?

That is what I was thinking of when I wrote that, it's the same on my Fiesta, it took about 3 hours to get the bolt undone and 5 minutes to change springs over and do it back up, absolutely useless!

Because the average person doesn't own a Torx socket set, meaning they will more than likely get Vaux to do it rather than trying it themselves = more boodah for manufacturers.

For caliper bolts? Think it's bigger than that. 256mm GTE/ATE calipers & discs.

I might be wrong though.

Both my standard 1.6 and my V6 callipers used a 7mm for the calliper to carrier slider bolts, and a 10mm for the carrier to hub bolts.

Be careful if you buy a set from Halfords Olly - I know for sure that their 150 piece socket set doesn't have a 7mm in there, as I had to buy one separately.

Yea you can buy them individually, just letting you know so you don't make the same mistake as me.

Do you have a trade card? IIRC from working there, its around 20% off most tools.

V6,Turbo and 16v ATE calipers use a 10mm and 7mm allen key head for sure.

Oh and a set of allen keys in the right size work aswell, just incase they are a wee bit cheaper.Ul need to use a ring ended spanner for leverage tho.

The average person might not, but then again, the average person wouldn't take his car apart on his own.
