for the MG
once i bought it had someone look at it and advised i considered new front discs and new pads in the at the same time looking at the wear (estimated around 6 months left on hte pads)
so i am thinking i will treat myself this Christmas. i am after full set (front and rear) pads and front discs, budgetting around £200-250
Black Diamond has caught my eye at the moment in terms of price and what i have heard about them. i was tempted with EBC (Greenstuff) but recently read a slating report on them, Brembo would be nice but i suspect too pricey for my budget....anyone recommend any other good discs/pads brands??

Go for REDstuff over green!
Had Brembo's and redstuff pads on the XE stopped it a treat

How do you know? Do you have a set of redstuff pads?
Aren't redstuff meant for track use, work best at high temperature so you won't see the advantage of the redstuff pads on the road unless you rallye your car round the ring road.

Had a set of redstuff on the alst ibiza (they came on it) and thney were much better than the shite thats on this one. Don't fade when braking from high speed on a motorway sliproad for example.

To be very honest they ONLY time I noticed it was high speed breaking (and I mean 80+). Where my foot would travel nearer the floor on this one, my old one wouldnt.
Thats my experiance, but I think they were a bit noisey? Can't remember tbh

Green stuff is normal use
Red stuff is fast road use
Yellow stuff is track use
Redstuff perform well on the road IMO might have been due to Brembo disks over some cheap grooved ones previously but I'd certainly have the same setup again!

Yer thats what I have been told too. I would leave the disks as OEM stuff and get pads and braided hoses and fresh fluid and see how it is
Other pads that seem highly recomended are the federo 2500's same as normal pads but alot more fade resistant

The Ferodo DS2500 pads are awesome - I had a set come with my V6 brakes when I bought them and I loved them, but they aren't very cheap at all I'm afraid - the cheapest I could find for my Vectra V6 set up was around £140 for an axle set.

Ferrodo DS2500 or Mintex M1144 both very god pads.
Only downside to the Mintex which i sometimes have is they can be abit noisy, but Ijust notice it more with the car being stripped.
Disc wise I can highly recommend both Tarox and Pagid, used them both.

the set up im gonna do to mine is v6 (cally sized) black diamond discs, B D predator pads and B D braidedbrake lines as had those on astra sport 1.8 and was good

last time me n a mate had these mintex pads at elvington on his astra gsi they ripped the lining off the surface lookily clutch went at same time so was end of our session and we had spare pads
