i recently bought an engine and the previous owner has stripped an inlet manifold bolt hole in the cylinder head. what i was wondering was is it better to just tap and dye it to 1mm bigger and get a new bolt or to drill it out and put in a new thread?
which one would be stronger?
which one is easier to do?
and does anyone know of any places around the sandbach, crewe, congleton, middlewich area that would do it for a reasonable price?
i would do it myself but id prefer to get it done properly and to have a bit of warranty on it just to cover every eventuality.
cheers

You would be much better to drill it out and helicoil it IMO.

Yep, as long as theres nothing stuck in the hole you can drill it and helicoil it. They come in sets with the needed drill, tap and helicoils. Excellent pieces of kit
