One for the track day guys. Just out of interest, how much can you actually improve the handling of the corsa? Obviously as standard they understeer alot at speed, so how much of an improvement can lowerin/arbs/polybushes etc make?

you can impove the amout of actual grip it has and how fast it will go round a corner lots and lots over standard. But you will never get feeback and feel like a 205 or 106 and it snaps to lift off oversteer very quickly.

well fist you need to find out what its doing, like you said understeering, so put in place things to stop that.. when the next problem comes along get something to fix that..

at the end of the day the corsa shell can be as good as you want. throw enough time and money at it and it will be shit hot.

but your never going to improve it that much with £100 here and there.

what i would reccomend tho from standard is a decent set of coilovers, read up on how to set them up propperly and do some reasearch in handling characteristics that way you will beable to tell exactly whats happening and the important bit.. why!

I've done the suspension, poly bushes allround and rear arb and it has totally transformed the car, very noticable.

In my opion thay can be vastly improved and hndle surprisingly well once done.

fittin spacers to the wheels should help aswell as the car would be wider.

But it'll tramline more and torque steer on the road.

Also look at wheel camber settings.

Corsas can be made to handle, the rallyX boys prove this, but as mentioned, it'll always be behined the 106 and 205 in the handling stakes.

TO vastly improve it, your gonna need independent coilovers all round, correct rebound settings etc..

The only way this happens is testing, track time. DO a few laps, tinker with the settings, few more laps, tinker, more laps, tinker etc....

yeah removing the front ARB does work, but you need pretty stiff suspension first!

OK, i do have coilovers fitted and to say the least they are 'hard'. just didnt think removing something that stops body roll could improve handling! Will have to give it a try

i noticed a big difference just the corsa being lowered (60mm front and 40mm back...this was a good height and was with bilstein b10 kit...worked very well imo...removing the front ARB i can imagine does work well...was nova thing to do the same so should work...BUT in short YOU CAN CHANGE HOW THEY HANDLE!...then again i bought a saxo vts and my god does it handle...its kinda scary when u look at speedo and its still gripping round the bend havent actually found out its full capability yet...however have had abit of liftoff...and ice scare the other day head on van argghhh

As said, it's not impossible to make it handle. But it's leagues behind the French buckets!

What Eck said.

You can make it handle and grip but as someone mentioned you'll never get the feel of a decent car

very hard rear springs will increase the load on the rear tyres when cornering, so heating them up and giving you more grip.
