i have just done an engine change on my gsi for another gsi engine but it now wont go into 5th gear what will i have to change??

ay gunners dad did it but it not goin in, it doesnt even move across to go in, feels like iv only got 4 gears.

Prob just need to adjust the linkage so the gearsticks further across to the left allowing you to get 5th
|

i was thinking maybe the gearbox oil hasent reached 5th gear because its only just been put in. does anyone think that mite be it?

get under the car loosen the pinch bolt that holds the gear shaft in place (next to the rear engine mount) while someone holds the gearstick still. then get the person to move the gearstick slightly left and hold it there while you do up the pinch bolt.
or you can pull up the gearstick gaitor and put a pin through the 2 holes (on the left), which saves you needing a 2nd person, but doesnt always line it up perfectly.
