Has anyone got any pics of any with some subtle mods. Also what are the 2.2's like. Went out looking today and ended up adding this to the list
clicky
Also does this seem overpriced?

Wouldn't bother with the 2.2
They go for turbo money
The turbo is the best of the lot, a lot of car for the money, and quite a few upgrades can be done performance wise on a budget
A 2.2 isn't so tuneable on a budget

Not too bothered about tuning it, Will just be driven, Only thing that may get changed is the backbox for a bit of sound

Very nice example with some very nice mods,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-VAUXHALL-ASTRA-COUPE-TURBO-BLUE_W0QQitemZ250343151225QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAutomobiles_UK?hash=item250343151225&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A7|39%3A1|240%3A1318
Weigh that up against an sri turbo or gsi turbo, it's a lot cheaper

I wouldn't bother with 2.2, better off with the 1.8 16v or Turbo.

What are the downsides of the 2.2?

Slow, use more fuel
Compare it with the 1.8 16v and there isn't much difference

The 2.2 drinks more fuel than the Turbo Fact
The 2.2 has a chaine and can go very often, unless very well serviced
The 2.2's arent very powerful considering its a 2.2
also you can get a turbo for the moeny your looking to pay easy

I did love my 2.2 though, but the factor for me getting rid was the fuel it drank on the daily commute really meant it wasn't worth it.
On a nice long drive it was a gorgeous car to drive.

To add, it was worse on fuel than a 250bhp Astra VXR.

I loved my turbo Always put a smile on my face and look so much more refined than the non-coupes.
Watch out for water pumps and turbo seals around 60k though...

join the club.
my 2.2 se2 was one of the best cars i've owned, but getting 200mile max to a tank and seeing 10mpg etc on commuting was a decider in getting rid of it.
Bonney - to be honest, dont buy a basic spec one like that ione in the link.
Either get urself a 1.8 se1/se2 - blue exterior paint with blue alcantara and black leather seats or get a turbo with the leather option.
Europa Blue, Solid Red and the lightning grey are the nicest imo.
heres my old one,

Apparently on AOC if anyone asks about mods for the 1.8 Coupe they tell you to get a Turbo. My mate's 1.8 goes alright though and they look way better than the hatch imo.quote: Originally posted by Marc

They are right though, for the money you would spend tuning the 1.8 you would be better off just paying the extra in tax/insurance for the Turbo.

If you have a 1.8 then don't do anything to it and wait a year and get a Turbo.

Do they have climate contol, heat seats, computer, tracton....all that ?????
