Evening all,
My cars an X14XE 1997 corsa.
Normally my car idles just under 1000RPM
But on a drive today at idle its idling on the line just beneath 1000RPM and going from there to in the middle (that being 1000RPM) revving wise on it's own.
And theres quite a racket going on in the engine bay also, like quite abit of tapping near the inlet manifold (Silver part)
And also noticed my car seems to be mis-firing twice every five beats (eg pop rumble rumble rumble pop rumble then exact same again)
Sorry if that last bit of explanation sounds daft but not brill at explaining things 100%
And noticed the car is kangaroo-ing slightly when slowing down but not amazingly noticable.
I personally think it's the ICV but would rather opinions etc

my old 1.4 sport used to let the revs drop seriously low then pick up then engine management light would pop on, all it was that my manifold needed a good clean but while i was there i did the ICV aswell and i had no probs after that.

Is it pretty straight forward taking the manifold off? And its where the ICV is located also then or?

i have no mechanical knowledge mate, i took it to a garage. saying that taking the manifold off isnt a big job, i got a inlet powerbox put on and it didnt take much time atall for the garage to take the old one off.

The Manifold is just Held of by 8 Bolts and a Few Breather/Vaccum Pipes Etc.
The ICV Is in a Sh**t Place (Just kind of next to the Coolant Bottle,But behind the Top Manifold) and is Quite Fiddly to get at Really,You need alot of Patience.Possible though.
Hope this Helps?
