How do you increase the oil pressure on c20xe??
It seems like oil isnt getting to the head Seems to tap alot after giving it heavy throttle then calms down after. Bit confused tbh as i dont want to go changing lifters ect if it could be the pressure switch

On the older vaux cav 1.6 ,1.8, 2.o, there use to be a oil pressure valve that consited of a spring and ball bearing this maintained the ammount of oil that went to the cams and sometimes got stuck and gummed up , but I do not know if a c20xe has one of these might be worth checking. it was located at the front of the head inside, or as stated a new oil pump should give better pressure.

For the cost of an engine re build if it fails id be thinking a new oil pump is money well spent imo or at least pull it off and check. Not a hard job just a pain in the arse job

Very true mate, just havent got access to a ramp or garage atm, engine is fine for about 5 mins and then taps then it goes again! bit strange tbh, if i give it a bit of a thrashing it taps then calms down, just a bit unsure what it could be

Get a gauge on it and see if there is actually a problem with the pressure.

Indeed it does. You can load up the spring to increase pressure. There's a huge bolt behind the front engine mount. Remove it and it'll come out. It's the pressure relief valve, and does get gunked up.
First get an oil pressure gauge (decent one) and check to see what the oil pressure is doing. it might be a lifter problem, it might be an oil pump problem, or it might simply be the oil being crap and breaking down when it warms up.
